Admission Wizard

All incoming freshman students will be admitted to Engineering using present admission procedures and standards. They will be considered pre-engineering students and given an EGR classification and an identifying department major. (A pre-engineering student may not have a year classification higher than 2 — i.e., you may not be an EGR 3). Transfer students must meet the same requirements as pre-engineering students.

To be considered for admission to MS&E, a student must have:

  1. a minimum of 24 degree credits
  2. satisfied the College Education Communication Skill Part A requirement
  3. a minimum of 17 credits of calculus, statistics, chemistry, computer science, statics and physics courses required for an engineering degree [these credits must include Math 222]
  4. a grade point average of at least 2.50 for all calculus, statistics, chemistry, computer science, statics and physics courses
  5. a grade point average at least 2.00 for all courses not included in requirement 4 above.

It is the student's responsibility to submit to the Pre-Engineering Office or the Dean's office (for transfer students) a timely application for transfer to MS&E. The application periods are as follows:

for Spring semester: October 1 to November 15
for Summer session or Fall semester: January 15 to March 1

Students not admitted to MS&E may file an appeal to the MS&E Department. Departments may specify courses as not open to pre-engineering students.
