General Information

Pass-Fail Option

All engineering students with a degree-granting classification and in good standing may count toward an undergraduate degree two P-F courses. These courses must be liberal or free electives.

College Regulations

Another required reading is the College of Engineering's Regulations. All too few students are familiar with the College regulations. Do you know the rules concerning probation and removal from probation? Do you know the seven requirements which must be met before graduation? Pick up a copy from the Dean's Office or from the Department Office.

Design Requirement

The College of Engineering has an Engineering Design Requirement of 16.0 units that must be satisfied prior to graduation. These units are primarily found in the Engineering Science and Materials Science and Engineering Elective courselists. The design credits assigned to each course can be found in Appendix I. Practical experience in Materials Science and Engineering design is required of every candidate for a degree in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. This requirement is satisfied in part by the required Materials Science and Engineering Capstone Design courses. Satisfaction of this requirement may involve participation in a required design project conducted off campus.

Technical Electives

All MS&E courses of 400 level or higher are acceptable technical electives. For students following the BS-MS&E curriculum, MS&E 370 is also acceptable. In addition, any Engineering courses of 300 level or higher can be used to satisfy this requirement.
