| MS&E 401 - Special Topics: Harnessing Materials for Energy |
To learn about the present challenges and opportunities for harnessing materials in addressing our world's energy needs.
Materials science challenges and opportunities are at the center of our energy future. This course will explore the materials science issues most relevant to different energy technologies. The material will be taught through topic specific presentations given by the class participants. Topics could include solar, nuclear, batteries, fuel cells, solid state lighting, green buildings, biofuels, and possibly many others, depending on student interests.
Tues/Thurs 1:00pm-2:15pm.

Depending on the topics, the concern with global energy needs means this course will touch on issues of economics, environment, ethics, politics, society, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
Assessment is based on student presentations, reports, and summaries.
