MSE Department Introduces New Entrepreneurship Course

The MSE 401 Entrepreneurship and Invention Seminar series is fostering a culture of innovation in MSE through guest speaker discussion and entrepreneurial exercises that connect students with similar efforts on and off campus.  The seminar is supported in part by departmental faculty invention patent royalties, and will develop to encompass and support innovative, student-led projects.  The class joined 100state President Niko Skievaski on January 29th at 100state for an introduction to entrepreneurship and the “business canvas model” featured in Lean Startup and validated learning.  Discussions with featured advisors, guest speakers, and participants include Center for Technology Commercialization at the UW-Extension Director Cheryl Vickroy, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic Anne Smith, WARF IP Manager Justin Anderson, Assistant Director of the Office of Corporate Relations Allen Dines, Sector67 Founder and Director Chris Meyer, and NSF Program Director Ben Schrag.   Interested participants should contact MSE Chair Don Stone to learn more.
