| Fluid Power Laboratory |
The Fluid Power Research Group is engaged in fundamental and applied studies in hydraulic systems. The wide range of topics covered includes computer control of hydrostatic transmissions and hydraulic actuators, accumulator energy storage, novel energy-saving concepts for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the dynamics of transmission lines, components and systems. A major, continuing project has been the study of vehicles incorporating a fully hydrostatic transmission and utilizing a hydropneumatic accumulator for energy storage to provide dramatic improvements in automobile fuel economy and performance.
