Many graduate students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering receive financial assistance in the form of research assistantships (RA), teaching assistantships (TA) or fellowships. Some students are able to arrange support from their government, industrial employers or foundations. Students admitted to the department should contact individual faculty directly to obtain an RA position. Students seeking an RA position must submit three letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose. TA applicants must complete a separate form. To ensure consideration for either an RA or TA position, students should complete their applications by Jan. 15 for entry in the fall semester and by Nov. 15 for entry in the spring semester. To be considered for a university fellowship, all application materials, including GRE scores, must reach ME's student services office by Jan. 15.

The following forms can be downloaded, filled out, and mailed at the same time or before you do the Graduate School application. The number in parenthesis after each form indicates how many copies of the form should be returned to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Return all forms to:
