Research team works to improve
informatics education
team of UW-Madison researchers has received a
$225,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to improve engineering
informatics education. Associate Professor Nicola
Ferrier (pictured left), Professor Vadim
Shapiro (pictured center), and Assistant
Professor Krishnan
Suresh (pictured right) will develop
software and curricula for computer science and engineering students
to study biologically inspired robotic systems.
When completed, the materials will be accessible
to educators and researchers nationwide via the Internet. The team will
facilitate outreach and training at target institutions, where the program
will foster students’ interest in engineering and computer science.
