Student newsThe Society of Automotive Engineers International awarded its 2002 SAE Myers Award for Outstanding Student Paper to Dong-Ryul Rhim (PhD, ME '02) and Professor Patrick Farrell for their paper "Air Flow Characteristics Surrounding Evaporating Transient Diesel Sprays." Papers authored by students around the world on any topic are eligible for this award. Papers must be based on work done by the lead author while enrolled as a student. The Myers Award was established by and honors College of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Professor Emeritus Phillip Myers. Two Detroit TV stations and other media interviewed the college's FutureTruck team members and team leader Katie Orgish in March. The team participated in a media event following the SAE International Congress in Detroit March 3-6. UW-Madison placed third in the student exhibit competition held in conjunction with the congress.
