Moskwa receives ASME innovators award
Professor John Moskwa has received the Innovative Practice Award from the Dynamic Systems and Control Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Moskwa, founder and director of the college's Powertrain Control Research Laboratory, was given the award for his work on transient test systems for use in engine research. "This is a significant award, and recognition of John's outstanding work with the powertrain research laboratory," said Department of Mechanical Engineering Chairman Neil Duffie. The ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Division gives the biennial award to a researcher in mechanical engineering for "excellent sustained contributions or for an outstanding major, singular contribution in innovative applications of dynamic systems, measurement, or control in engineering practice." In addition, the Beijing Institute of Technology invited Moskwa to give a series of lectures on engine and powertrain systems in December. These lectures discussed the research being conducted in his Powertrain Control Research Laboratory, including the patented work on new transient dynamometer systems and engine diagnostics using synthetic variables.
