Tom Conway (BS '82) e-mails that he is "assisting the Army in reshaping its R & D investment strategy." Since graduation, he has been awarded patents in heat transfer, been published in Mechanical Engineering magazine, and received an MS degree in biomedical engineering at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. ('92). Tom married in 1994 and has three children.

Hugh R. Hunkeler (BS'82) received his MSME from Purdue University this past May. He has been employed by Delphi-Delco Electronics for 15 years designing automotive electronics in Kokomo, Indiana, and Luxembourg, Belgium. He is active in the UW Alumni Club of Mid-Indiana and served recently as president.

Paul Van de Sand (BS'96) has been appointed director of graduate services and marketing for the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He lives in Thiensville, WI and can be reached via e-mail at paulvds@uwm.edu.

Recent graduate Jerome Lim (BS'98) e-mails that he is working at Caterpillar's proving grounds in Peoria, IL as a test engineer where he says, "My job is fun; where else can you go and play with all these earth moving machines?" He gives some advice to current ME students: "I am glad I learned the things I learned in ME 370, 368, and 364. They've proved to be useful for what I'm doing now. I conduct cooling systems tests on virtually all machines before they go into production...I am glad that we went over these things in lab; they were impressed when I told them that I've worked with similar equipment before. And I never thought as a student that experiments we did in lab are actually done in the real world, but it's true. Prof. Farrell was right when he said that equipment failure does happen in the real world too."
