Faustin Prinz, who died in 1995, has
bequeathed monies to the UW Foundation that will generate about
$50,000 yearly for the UW Mechanical Engineering Department for
undergraduate scholarships. Prinz was a member of the ME class of
1937. According to Bonnie Bruce of the foundation, Prinz received a
scholarship during his undergraduate studies that allowed him to
complete his degree during the Great Depression. In gratitude, he
directed that the income from this trust should fund scholarships for
needy ME students, and that any remaining money should be used for
such things as teaching equipment. Prinz forged his own career in
banking, real estate, and the Juneau Stamping Company.
