    Summary

    Professor Feiereisen's professional interests are in the thermosciences field, with applications in turbomachinery, propulsion systems and laboratory development. His research has included the areas of internal combustion engines and internal flows with applications to subsonic diffusers. He regularly teaches courses in fluid mechanics, energy systems laboratory, gas turbines and jet propulsion. He has won several Department and College teaching awards. He is currently the Director of the Energy Systems Laboratory in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

    He has served as a consultant for the U.S. Agency for International Development, the National Science Foundation, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, and the Southeast Asia Development Bank on laboratory development projects at universities in India and Indonesia. He has also had extensive consulting experience with numerous private companies and legal firms on product liability matters.

    Professor Feiereisen is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers where he is actively involved in the activities of the education committee of the Gas Turbine Division. He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

    His industrial experience includes periods of employment with NASA, the Boeing Airplane Co., Douglas Aircraft Co., Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the Madison Gas and Electric Co.

    He is current Chairman of the College of Engineering Scholarship Committee. He recently completed his terms as a member of the faculty senate and faculty advisor for the ASME student section.
