    Summary

    Professor Duchon's interests include application and improvement of welding processes, weldability, and welding inspection. He is a memberof the American Welding Society C6 committee on friction welding. His current research areas are out-of-position welding with small diameter gas shielded cored wires and deep penetration enhancement in gas metal arc welding.

    He directs the Mechanical Engineering welding program and is in charge of the welding, material testing and sheet metal laboratories. He is registrar for undergraduate students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is the Secretary of College of Engineering Faculty.
