Summary

Dr. Bower oversees the Phil Meyers Automotive Center located in the Engineering Centers Buidling. The new 5000 sq. ft. facility is the home to the Baja, Formula, Snowmobile and Hybrid vehicle teams. Dr. Bower is an avid machinist and welder and spends several nights a week in the garage advising and mentoring students.

The Baja team has won two national championships in addition to placing second place twice at the SAE collegiate competitions in the last four years.

The Hybrid Vehicle teams have won 5 national championships in the last 6 years and are the current (2002-2003) two-time national champions.

Dr. Bower is also a scientist for the Engine Research Center. He is an expert in high speed photography and in-cylinder engine combustion in addition to engine and hybrid controls.
