545 Fluid Power. II; 3 cr. Generation, transmission, and utilization of power in systems in which the working fluid is oil or air; analysis and evaluation of pumps, motors, valves, and other fluid components; dynamic analysis and control of fluid power systems. P: ME 340 or equiv or cons inst.

Assessment of student progress toward course objectives

Students are graded on the following: Homework assignments (typical analysis type problems) Special assignments (these projects are done either individually or in teams and invlove relating the theoretical principles to and actual hydraulic device or system. These assignments usually require teh students to gather information form outside the text in order to satisfactorily complete the assignment) Exams (two plus a final) Group project (look at a real hydraulic system and prepare a report and presentation on what it does and how it does it.)
