Summary
As assistant dean and director of the EGR Office in the College of Engineering, Donald Woolston leads the staff who provide advising, orientation, academic support, counseling and admissions services for undergraduate students in engineering. Dr. Woolston is in addition the academic dean for all engineering undergraduates. In recent years, he has had a leadership role in the WiscAMP program for promoting diversity in engineering. He also coordinates the Degree Audit Report System (DARS) for the college.
Additionally, in conjunction with his advising collaborators, Woolston teaches an introduction to engineering course called "Contemporary Issues in Engineering." He founded the Commission on Science And Engineering Advising within the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), and has given many national presentations on the topic of academic advising, including "The Seven Habits of Highly Ineffective Advisors." For the last six years, he has served on the UW-Madison Athletic Board.
