Accelerator Facilities

Two accelerator facilities are available for materials research: a 750 kV light-ion accelerator for injection of hydrogen and helium, and a 7 MV tandem accelerator. The 7 MV tandem accelerator is used for the study of nuclear structure, nuclear reactions, and radiation damage. It can provide a wide variety of energetic ion beams, including hydrogen, helium, oxygen, copper, nickel, and niobium.
