What is the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Program?

The Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MSE) Program was founded on the principle of training engineers equally as operations tacticians and business strategists. The resulting curriculum meshes the best attributes of one of the country's top engineering colleges with one of America's most highly ranked business schools. As the first program of its kind in the United States, MSE continues the UW's leadership in manufacturing instruction and research.

MSE students are afforded the highest levels of flexibility in designing study plans that fit their personal or professional goals, with only one required course: the MSE capstone experience.

MSE graduates leave the program prepared to succeed in leadership positions. Eighty percent of all alumni hold positions in fields of top corporate or manufacturing management. The average annual starting salary for MSE graduates in Dec 2007 was $65,000.

With more than 400 alumni working in industry or academia, the MSE Program is internationally recognized as a leading provider of versatile engineers for roles in complex manufacturing enterprises as well as research and education.
