Update

In Fall 2012, I will be moving to Wisconsin and taking a position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Geoscience and Geological Engineering.

If you are a potential graduate student interested in working with me at UW-Madison, please e-mail me at michaelcardiff@boisestate.edu or cardiff@wisc.edu. I am looking for MS/PhD students in the area of groundwater modeling ("natural" and urban environments), recharge estimation, model validation and time-series data analysis. I am also always on the look-out for excellent researchers interested in pursuing doctoral or postdoctoral research with skills in areas such as optimization, numerical modeling, and statistical analysis. Please contact me if you would like to learn more about currently available opportunities!

Fields of Interest

- Applications of optimization methodologies and heuristics to large, complex environmental problems
- Aquifer imaging with hydrologic and geophysical methods
- Spatial data analysis and geostatistics
- Decision making under uncertainty
