IE in the newsOn September 15, the Wisconsin State Journal published an op ed piece entitled, "State Can Beat Overseas Competitors." Author Rajan Suri, director of the Center for Quick Response Manufacturing, discussed how the center has been working with Wisconsin companies to stay competitive with overseas manufacturing operations. In addition, the QRM Center and its work with Datex Ohmeda was the lead story on WKOW, Channel 27 news on September 25. For more information, see www.qrmcenter.org. The July 2003 issue of Industrial Engineer, the magazine of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, featured a project the Consortium for Global eCommerce conducted with CUNA Mutual, the Credit Union Executives Society, and CUNA and Affiliates. The groups worked together to develop a roadmap for credit unions to adopt websites and advance their e-commerce strategies. A July 8 story in the British newspaper The Guardian mentioned major National Cancer Institute funding for a group led by Professor Emeritus David Gustafson.
