New ME Building project advances

Mechanical Engineering Building

Mechanical Engineering Building (23K JPG)

The project that will yield the college a new Mechanical Engineering Building — and industrial engineering an up-to-date home — has progressed over the summer. College and university representatives have met with the architectural team and a final design for the project is expected by the end of 2002.

One of the most exciting aspects of the project is that it will essentially be an entirely new building. The project is retaining the historic façade, but the rest of the building will be new within that façade — meaning that both industrial and mechanical engineering programs will have cutting-edge, 21st-century facilities for research and teaching.

The college is raising funds toward the required $10 million private match of state funds to support the project. For more information, contact Development Director Deb Holt at 608/263-0779; E-mail: deb.holt@uwfoundation.wisc.edu.
