U.S. Representative Baldwin visits Trace Center
United States Rep. Tammy Baldwin (left) visited the Trace Research and Development Center on a Sept. 4 tour of UW Research Park. During her tour of the center, Professor Gregg Vanderheiden (right) explained Trace's research and development in accessible technology. Recently, the center developed simple software that adds accessibility to electronic voting machines and hopes to influence future network technology standards that allow mobile devices such as cell phones and handheld computers to communicate with home appliances, kiosks and ATMs. During Baldwin's tour, Trace staff also demonstrated accessibility control panel options in every Microsoft Windows operating system and guidelines for web accessibility. Baldwin also toured several college laboratories Aug. 27.
