Returning Adults/Second Degree
Returning Adult Students
The transfer admission coordinator in the Engineering General Resources office can advise adults who are returning to formal education or who are considering a career change to engineering. The UW-Madison Adult and Student Services Center is another source of information.
Second Degree Students
Students who have a prior undergraduate degree and seek admission to UW-Madison College of Engineering (COE) should apply as transfer students. Like all transfer students, second-degree applicants must be immediately admissible to their intended COE degree program; they cannot be admitted to the COE with a pre-departmental or undecided classification. Similarly, second-degree applicants must meet two sets of expectations: UW-Madison transfer admission requirements (#1 below) and additional transfer admission requirements set by the COE (#2 below). Second-degree applicants must also meet a third set of expectations (#3 below) and are considered only for fall semester entry.
