We are saddened to report that George Washa, emeritus professor of engineering mechanics, died last fall. George received the very first PhD (1938) granted by the engineering mechanics department and was a member of its faculty from 1942 until his retirement in 1978. He served as department chair from 1953 until 1974.

We are also saddened to report that Norman Huston, emeritus professor of nuclear engineering, died last summer. Norm was director of the Instrumentation Systems Center in the college and held a faculty appointment in nuclear engineering from 1966 until his retirement in 1984.
