Superconductivity and Cryogenics Laboratories

These laboratories house facilities for producing both low- and high-temperature superconducting wire, measuring their properties, and studying various methods of providing cooling and refrigeration for superconducting applications. The equipment used in these labs includes a commercial-size composite-superconductor production facility, numerous superconducting magnets and associated equipment for materials studies, a variety of power supplies capable of supplying current up to 100 kA, a large helium liquefier for coolant production and distribution, and an assortment of small cryocooler systems. Electronics and computer data acquisition functions are available on all experiments.
