Liberal Electives

Sixteen credits from the College of Engineering, the Institute for Environmental Studies, or the College of Letters and Science that carry H, S, L, or Z Timetable breadth designators must be taken to fulfill the Liberal Electives Requirements. These credits must fulfill the following subrequirements:

  1. A minimum of two courses must be from the same department or program. At least one of these two courses must be above the elementary level (i.e. must have I, A, or D level designator), as indicated in the Timetable.

  2. A minimum of six credits must be in courses designated as humanities (H, L, or Z), and an additional minimum of three other credits designated as social studies (S or Z). Foreign language credits count as H credits.

  3. At least three credits must be in courses designated as ethnic studies (lower case "e" in the Timetable). These credits may help satisfy regulations I or II as well, but may count only once toward the total credits required.
