725 Plasma Kinetic Theory and Radiation Processes. (Crosslisted with Physics, ECE 725.) I; 3 cr. Coulomb Collisions, Boltzmann equation, Fokker-Planck methods, dynamical friction, neoclassical diffusion, collision operators radiation processes and experimental applications. Course objectives

Develop comprehensive picture of Coulomb collision effects in a plasma. Derive the basic kinetic equation governing a fully ionized plasma and discuss its general properties. Apply plasma kinetic theory equation to problems of calculating diffusion processes in magnetized plasmas. Discuss radiation processes in a plasma.
