Class/laboratory schedule

EMA 611 meets twice per week for conventional 75 minute lecture/lab periods.

Contribution of course to meeting the professional component
This course contributes primarily to the students' knowledge of college-level mathematics and/or basic sciences and does provide experimental experience.

The following statement indicates which of the following considerations are included in this course: economic, environmental, ethical, political, societal, health and safety, manufacturability, sustainability.

EMA 611 is primarily a technical course focusing on experimental methods in material characterization and performance under load, and does not address any of ABET's supplemental topics (economics, environmental, etc.)

Relationship of course to undergraduate degree program objectives and outcomes
This course primarily serves students in the department. The information below describes how the course contributes to the undergraduate program objectives.

EMA 611 addresses the EMA program objectives by providing students with education in the "basics of instrumentation, design of laboratory techniques, measurement, and data acquisition, interpretation and analysis." The write-up of laboratory reports also supports the development of written communication skills.

Assessment of student progress toward course objectives
