Computer Architecture

Computer architecture deals with innovative computational hardware structures including processor micro-architecture, approaches to interconnecting processors, and schemes for the operation of interconnected processors. Areas of interest of the faculty in architecture include high performance and power efficient uni-processors and multiprocessor systems, special-purpose architectures, reconfigurable computing, distributed real-time and fault-tolerant computers, and networked computers.

Faculty: Compton, Hu, Lipasti, Megerian, Ramanathan, Saluja, Schulte, Smith

Computer-aided Design and Test

Computer-aided design and test deals with research into new concepts and computer-based tools to aid the designer of electronic systems in performing and analyzing the design, verification, and testing of system hardware and software. Areas of interest of the faculty in computer-aided design and test include extensible design environments, physical design and layout, circuit design, interconnect design, logic synthesis, FPGA-based design, test pattern generation, fault simulation, and built-in self-test techniques.

Faculty: Compton, Davoodi Hu, Kursun, Saluja
