At an awards ceremony in May, ECE honored faculty and teaching assistants for their outstanding contributions to teaching. Each awardee received a certificate as well as a check. Each year Gerald Holdridge provides funds for these excellence awards. In addition, two graduate students received a Harold A. Peterson Award for an outstanding paper. These funds are made available annually through Lindon and Jane Saline. We are very grateful to these donors for their support. Recipients are listed below.

Gerald Holdridge Teaching Excellence Awards:
Faculty Associate, Mike Morrow; Teaching Assistants: Avinaash Bhugra, Ian Brown, Suhanya Ramakrishnan, John Schmitt & Navrina Singh

Gerald Holdridge Lab Development Award:
Christopher Feucht

Harold A. Peterson First Place Graduate Student Paper Award:
Nelson Tansu for "Low-Threshold-Current-Density 1300 nm Dilute-Nitride Quantum Well Lasers"

Harold A. Peterson 2nd Place Paper Award:
Ke Liu for "Space-Time D-Block Codes Via The Virtual MIMO Channel Representation"

Several teaching assistants also received honorable mention for their exemplary teaching performance:

Teaching Assistants:
Emily Yuet Ching, Anurag Kapoor, Nandini Karra and David Leonard.

In addition, Professor W. Nicholas Hitchon and Teaching Assistant Navrina Singh were honored for their receipt of the spring ECE Polygon Outstanding Instructor Award.
