ECE 2002-03 graduate fellowship recipients named
ECE is very fortunate to participate in the Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowship program. With individual gifts and matching Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation funds, these fellowships attract the most talented students to our graduate program. Awards include a fellowship of $18,500, $1,500 flexible funds plus full tuition remission and health insurance at very little cost. ECE also guarantees additional years of support from faculty or department. We had six fellowship recipients in 2002-03 and will have 11 fellowships available for 2003-04. Each fellowship recipient is mentored by a faculty advisor and all will perform research in a selected area. The ECE Distinguished Graduate Fellowships are provided by the following donors: John & Tashia Morgridge, Donald & Esther Procknow, Winslow Sargeant, Peter Schneider and Bruce Shand for the Claude & Dora Richardson Fund. ECE receives funds for additional graduate fellowships from other generous donors as well. Fellowships and recipients follow. UW Graduate School Fellowship Tulaya Limpiti; College of Engineering Grainger Fellowship John Canik; Greater Milwaukee Foundation Frank Rogers Bacon Fellowship Andrew Bolstad, Christopher Brace, Christopher Feucht, Deborah Fixel, Faiz Syed, John Thompson, and Nicholas Young; Edward R. Felber Power Fellowship Frederick Kieferndorf and Jackson Wai; IBM PhD Fellowship Kevin Lepak; Intel Masters Fellowship Jay Wierer. To attract underrepresented students to our program, the college provides funds for the Graduate Engineering Research Scholars Program. ECE currently has four students receiving funds and mentorship from this program Shakti Davis, Eric Hill, Jose Ramos Torres, and Shuntel Williams. Nationally, two of our graduate students competed to receive National Science Foundation Fellowships Jason Cantin and Allison Holloway. We appreciate all of these contributions. If you would like to donate to a graduate student fellowship, return the envelope enclosed with graduate support checked.
