    Summary

The general area of my research is power electronics, its application to power systems and restructuring of the electrical power system. I am interested in design and simulation and control of systems of small generation and stroage devices, reliability and control issues related to the restructuring of the electrical power system, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, Static Var Compensators (SVC), Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), and the power quality systems.

I am also involved as site director of the Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSerc) which is a multi-university center focused on the restructuring of the electric power industry. PSecr is a cross-discipliary team including specialists in power system dynamics, applied mathematics, non-linear systems, power electronics, advanced control theory, economics and public policy.
