    Summary

    * Design Automation of Deep Submicron VLSI circuits in the presence of manufacturing-induced variations (Supported by NSF)

    * Tools for post-silicon debug of electrical failures caused by manufacturing-induced variations

    * Parallelism for IC-CAD: 1) studying advances in parallel optimization with application to IC-CAD problems [collaboration with ISyE department], 2) parallel IC-CAD for various computing environments (e.g., grid of multi-core nodes), 3) studying advantages of parallelism: potential for generating optimal solution for NP-hard CAD problems, improve scalability with runtime and quality of solution. (Supported by NSF and Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation)

    * Physical synthesis: interactions between logic synthesis and physical domains: 1) for consideration of interconnect effects on delay and congestion; 2) for accounting for within-die variations and spatial correlations.

    * Power-awareness and power-management techniques.
