EGR New Student Orientation

Who: For new 1st year incoming undergraduate students

What: A welcome from College of Engineering Deans, Advisors, Peer Advisors and Staff. Learn about academic, career, and tutoring resources available to all engineering students. Attendance required for all EGR students.

When: Fall Semester - Generally the Friday before the 1st week of class

Exploring Engineering


Who: All undergraduate students interested in pursuing an engineering major

What: Faculty presentations on each engineering major at UW-Madison with Q&A opportunities with Faculty and Academic Advisors

When: Mid Fall Semester

EGR Group Advising

Who: 1st and 2nd year EGR Students

What: 

Fall Group Advising - 1 hour presentation to review GCR, liberal studies, advising tips for spring enrollment, and deadlines. 

Spring Group Advising - 1 hour presentation from Faculty about each engineering department. Engineering curriculum information & campus wide certificate information, Advisors & Peer Advisors available to answer questions.  Attendance required for 1st year EGR students.

When: Fall and Spring Semester - before enrollment for the following semester

College of Engineering Info Sessions for Non-EGR Students


Who: Non-EGR Students interested in pursuing an engineering major (L&S, CALS, Education, etc.)

What: A 1 hour group meeting with a presentation about the requirements to apply to an engineering major (GCR), possible majors, and liberal studies requirement.  Students will review their "what if" DARS for their engineering major(s) of interest with an Advisor.  Q&A following the presentation.  

When:  Sign up required. To do so call 608-262-2473 or stop into the EGR Office in 1150 Engineering Hall. Location given at time of sign up. Dates and times below:

1. February 14, 11-12pm  

2. February 25, 11-12pm  

3. March 12, 3:30-4:30pm  

4. March 27, 1-2pm

5. April 21, 3:30-4:30pm

Who:  All engineering students welcome!  Feel free to bring your friends.

What:  Take a break from studying. Enjoy games, healthy snacks, coloring, puzzles, and pet the Dogs on Call! 

When: Fall and Spring Semester Study Day from 1-3pm in the Engineering Hall Lobby
