Two alumni elected to NAE
Two alumni, Ed Cussler (PhD '64), IT Distinguished Professor at the University of Minnesota, and Klavs Jensen (PhD '80), Lammot du Pont Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, have been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Ed has been recognized for this pioneering research on membrane transport in chemical and biochemical separation and for inspiring teaching; Klavs for his fundamental contributions to multiscale chemical reaction engineering, with important applications to microelectronic materials processing and microreactor technology. Klavs also has agreed to present the second annual Bird-Stewart-Lightfoot Lecture for the department this fall.
