Students host regional AIChE conferenceStudents host regional AIChE conferenceThe UW-Madison student chapter of AIChE, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, hosted the 2001 North Central Student Regional Conference March 1-3. More than 150 students from 10 universities attended the event. The conference included a research paper competition, a car competition in which all automobiles were operated solely by chemical reaction and an industry fair. Groups also toured several Wisconsin plants, including Rayovac, Pechiney Plastic Packaging, Kimberly-Clark and 3M. Nicole Angela Waite, former chemical engineering student and conference chair, explained that the event went very smoothly. "From the opening social event to the farewell banquet, students enjoyed a stimulating weekend," said Nicole. "Our competition winners look forward to their trip to the AIChE national convention in November. We were fortunate to have most of our industry sponsors attend the conference."
