RECENT GIFTS

In addition to the generous annual giving by a broad cross-section of our alumni and friends, we gratefully acknowledge the following major gifts. All contributions to the Department of Chemical Engineering help us achieve an added level of excellence in our research and instructional programs.

• Emeritus professor Bob Bird, with a gift through a life-income plan and a matching supplement through the Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowship Program, established the Bird, Stewart and Lightfoot Graduate Fellowship Fund.

• Franz R. and Philip J. Altpeter endowed a fund in memory of their father, emeritus professor Roger J. Altpeter, to cover the costs of continuing their father's tradition of taking group photos of summer lab participants, and to fund a student award for excellence in writing.

• Dr. James and Frances Mathis have committed a generous estate gift to be added to their existing endowment fund. The gift will be used to support graduate fellowships.

• John P. and Dorothy E. Hall established an endowed scholarship fund in memory of John's father, John L. Hall (BS 1925).

• John M. Roebuck (BS 1941) has again contributed generously to the department, establishing a permanent endowment to provide unrestricted support for our programs.
