Small world?

Emeritus professor Thomas Chapman sent news of a number of alumni he has encountered in the Washington, D.C. area and in his travels.

  • Masataka Tanigaki (PhD 1972) of Kyoto University was Tom's JSPS host when he was in Japan to survey research activities in areas relevant to his NSF program.
  • Gene Tunison (PhD 1976) is now in the D.C. area, having been transferred to the new corporate offices by Exxon following their merger with Mobil.
  • Mark Mathias (PhD 1987) was in town for a panel discussion. After working at Mobil in New Jersey, Mark is now working with GM Delphi on fuel cell research.
  • Bill Collins (PhD 1990) is on the faculty of the chemical engineering department at Howard University.
  • Chris Hill (PhD 1969) is the provost at George Mason University.
  • Shi-Chern Yen (PhD 1984) of the National Taiwan University, visited Washington over the summer.
  • Finally, Tom reports that R. Fenton-May (PhD 1971) sent email that he retired from Coca Cola at the end of August.
