This individualized course for upper-level students are under the direction of individual faculty members in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Students choose an area of research or an independent study project and work independently in the lab or library toward increasing their knowledge outside the formal courses offered in the department. Research is offered in a wide range of areas: biotechnology, virology and biomedical engineering; kinetics and catalysis; fluid mechanics; electrochemistry; solid-state and electronic materials; polymers; process dynamics and control; and process modeling and design.
