Water Chemistry Laboratories

Located in the Water Science and Engineering building on Lake Mendota, the Water Chemistry Laboratories serve as the core facility for the environmental chemistry and technology faculty in the department, and for students in the Water Chemistry Graduate Program. The laboratories are developed for fundamental and applied research in the areas of aquatic chemistry, air chemistry, and chemical technology, including investigations of water quality, air pollution and new technologies for removal of chemical contaminants from water and air. Instruments are available for measurements of major elements, trace organic and inorganic chemicals, and readioisotopes, and for characterization of natural particles and colloids, and synthetic microporous materials.
