Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory is well equipped with various teaching apparatuses and is used for staging field studies. The open channels are used for research. The Hydraulics Laboratory contains a recirculating water system with an overhead tank, in addition to flumes, pumps, turbines and flow meters. The flumes are used for studying surface waves, channel flows and testing hydraulic models. Instrumentation for measuring mean and turbulent velocities, flows, pressures, depths, forces, and other quantities and for recording and processing this data in real time are available.
