CEE sixth annual golf benefit

Engineering students joined CEE faculty and alumni for a day of golfing. (35K JPG)

September 9th was a wonderful day at the Lake Wisconsin Country Club for the department's Sixth Annual Golf Benefit. The hot, sunny day was perfect for golf. The club features challenging fairways and greens with vistas of beautiful Lake Wisconsin just above the dam at Prairie du Sac.

This year the department's student organizations — the ASCE Student Chapter, the Construction Club and the ITE Student Chapter — joined forces to recruit 18 student golfers. Corporate and other donors sponsored all of the students. Look for even more students to participate next year.

Thanks are extended to the organizing committee (Denny Brush, Don Jorgensen, James Larry, Melvin Luher, Phil Ramlet and Kent Straus) for recruiting sponsors and participants. The Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association again sponsored the hole-in-one contest with its $10,000 prize. The designated hole for the contest involved the challenge of teeing off from a small island in Lake Wisconsin.

Please reserve Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, for our Seventh Annual Golf Benefit, again at the Lake Wisconsin Country Club. Our student organizations will help to recruit sponsors and participants. We look forward to another great afternoon of golf.

THE CONDUIT is a semi-annual Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering publication directed to alumni and friends.
