ALUMNI NEWS

Roy Weston (BS `33) was recently named one of the top 125 persons in the design/construction industry by Engineering News Record. One of the first sanitary engineers hired by corporate America in the 1930s and environmental consulting pioneer, he advanced a multidisciplinary approach that has been widely copied.

Robert B. Teska (BS '58), founder of Teska Associates, Evanston, Illinois, was elected Fellow of The American Institute of Certified Planners, a 10,000 plus member professional association. This is the highest honor AICP can bestow on its members based on lifetime career achievements, professional stature, mentoring of younger professionals, and community service.

Teska has also been recognized by ASCE with the prestigious Harland Bartholomew Award for outstanding service in the field of urban and regional planning.

Nicholas L. Clesceri (PhD '63) is a professor and program director of environmental engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. In December 1998, Clesceri was appointed by Governor George Pataki to be a member of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for the Watershed Protection and Partnership Council (WPPC). The appointment runs through December 2001.

Clesceri is the only academic serving on the 14-member advisory committee. At the March 9, 1999 meeting, he was elected TAC Chairperson. Clesceri has represented the TAC at the WPPC's Executive Committee and full council meetings.

IN MEMORIAM

Charles Dinauer (MS '58) passed away on January 18, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 1945 to April 1953. He was employed as a civil engineer for the City of Madison from 1960 to 1969 and was planning director from 1969-1989. He retired to Arizona in 1989 and was employed by the Town of Marana from 1989 to 1992 as planning and zoning administrator and acting town manager.

John Albright (BS '66, MS `67) retired as Rear Admiral after thirty-one years of active duty with the Coast and Geodetic Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He devoted most of his career to hydrographic surveying, nautical charting, and survey/research ship operations. John lives in Seattle, Washington.

Scott Kieffer (BS '78) was promoted in September 1998 to director--lines maintenance for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway office in the Denver Service Office.

David R. Weimer (BS '87) has joined Edward Jones, Inc. as an investment representative in February 1999. David, his wife and two children live in Ashburn, Virginia.

Matthew R. Talarczck (BS '90, MS '91, MD '98) is beginning his second year in general surgery residency. Talarczck recently presented "Surgical Management of Congesita Pulmonary Abnormalities" at the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons National Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Talarczck and his wife Sharon live in Oakwood, Ohio.

William Kottler (BS '91) is self-employed as a professional engineer and a registered land surveyor. He lives in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Rick Eilertson (BS '93) was married in 1995 to Yenti Ann Terry. He received his Professional Engineer's License in 1997 and was promoted in 1998 to Project Engineer at MSA Professional Services, Inc. in the Municipal Engineering Dept. Rick and his wife live in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
