For Undergraduate Students

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers the Bachelor of Science degree in CE (BSCE). Three program options within the department allow students to receive degree recognition of in-depth studies in specialized areas of civil engineering. Each of the options, environmental engineering, fluid systems engineering, and construction engineering and management, have special separate curricula that meet BSCE requirements and provide a concentration in one area. Students who complete either option receive a BSCE degree in civil engineering with that option designated on their transcript.

The BSCE is offered as a day program. In general, class work on campus rather than correspondence study is expected for the degree; a course may be taken by correspondence with special permission from the College of Engineering's Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Many students elect to register for the off campus Cooperative Education Program for one or more semesters and receive credit for those experiences.

Fundamentals of Engineering. CEE Students are strongly encouraged to take the FE Exam during their senior year. Be aware that you need to sign up for the exam two months in advance!

Design Credits. CEE students are required to complete 16 design credits, with at least three corresponding to a course classified as senior level design. The list of courses that offer design credits is updated regularly. Follow the link for the design courses currently offered.

Advising: Every semester before registration begins all CEE students are required to meet with their advisor. In addition all new incoming students are recommended to attend the peer advising sessions before meeting with their advisor. Advisor packets are available outside the department office. If you are new to the department and do not have an assigned advisor, stop by the department office (2205 Engineering Hall). All transfer students are advised by Professor Mike Oliva.
