698 Special Topics in Construction Engineering and
Management. Irr; 1-4cr. Advanced topics of special
interest to seniors and grad students in construction
engineering and management. This course covers leadership development, defined as learning the various concepts of leading others to accomplish a common goal. Topics include leadership styles with self-examination, human motivation, communication and problem solving. Students apply these learned concepts to their chosen project using feedback to improve their leadership effectiveness. Guest lecturers will also present their personal views on the subject of leadership. The lectures will provide the framework, while the assigned readings provide in-depth knowledge. Examples from experience in the construction industry will be used extensively for explanation and discussion
