Course objectives

Course objective is to address a topic not present in the current CEE curriculum, or to provide more depth of study in an important area of water resources engineering. Specific learning goals vary with the topic.

Topics covered

Varies. For example, in Fall 2005 "Sediment Processes and Engineering in Natural Channels" presented the mechanics of flow, resistance, and transport of solids in erodible channels, the measurement and control of these processes, and the design of channels. In Fall 2002 "Environmental Fluid Mechanics" introduced processes, phenomena, and governing equations associated with turbulence, stratification, mixing, boundary layers, instabilities, free shear flow, and rotation. This knowledge and tools were applied to various environmental flows.
