532 Foundations. (Crosslisted with GLE 532.) Ior II; 3cr. Shallow and deep foundations. Analysis and design of footings, mats, piers and piles, and related fill and excavation operations. Consolidation settlement, time rate of settlement, stress distribution, elastic (immediate) settlement, load bearing capacity; methods to reduce settlements and increase shear strength; the selection of a foundation system. P:Civ Engr 330 & Comp Sci 310 or cons inst. Edil, Bosscher, Benson.
