Students must have a basic understanding of aerial phorographic data acquisition systems and also a basic knowledge of geometric relationships between camera, image, and object.
CEE 404 contributes to a comprehensive education in the fundamentals of civil and environmental engineering by providing theory and hands-on experience in the development of models of terrain from aerial photography.
Students having taken CEE 404 should be able to define the scope of mapping problems, select appropriate approaches and technologies, and apply methods to their solution. They should understand accuracy and precision requirements for mapping from aerial photographs and be familiar with instumentation systems for production of maps and models of terrain.
