Engineering Centers Building construction on schedule

ECB construction

He can't see it from his office window, but Department of Biomedical Engineering Chair Robert Radwin knows it's happening. Each day, construction on the Engineering Centers Building (ECB)--the long awaited home for his department--progresses. In less than two years, the new department will have state-of-the-art facilities for its innovative teaching, research and learning.

The College of Engineering took a giant step toward obtaining the facilities needed to meet its strategic goals when it broke ground for the $53.4 million building nearly six months ago. With 135,000 assignable square feet, the ECB will make a significant improvement in space for engineering research programs, and it will house the Department of Biomedical Engineering administrative and faculty offices as well as the biomedical engineering laboratories.

You can watch the progress of the ECB Project on the web using CentersCam, which provides real-time pictures of the project site. Visitors to the site can control the movement of the camera by clicking on the pan and zoom features. The website is located at centerscam.engr.wisc.edu or you can link to it from the Department of Biomedical Engineering homepage at www.engr.wisc.edu/bme.
