Position Description:

The University of Cincinnati and the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Medicine seek an accomplished researcher to lead a broad development effort in tissue engineering within the University of Cincinnati and in cooperation with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. This individual should have expertise in one or more of a variety of subspecialties within the tissue engineering field.

An interdisciplinary Center for Reparative and Regenerative Medicine is under development at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine. This Center will bring together world-class investigators from the Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pathology, Molecular Genetics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemical and Materials Engineering. Resources in the tissue engineering and biomechanics laboratories in the Colleges of Medicine and Engineering, Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and Shriner’s Burns Hospital include fully equipped cell culture labs, stimulation systems for delivering in vivo mechanical signals, BioMEMs laboratories for creating chips for growth factor delivery (microfluidics), computer aided engineering to design effective constructs, morphometric analysis equipment, and access to genome, imaging, animal, epidemiology and biostatistics cores. This position represents an exceptional leadership opportunity to establish an interface between basic research and clinical application. The position has been designated as a Millennium Scholar for the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, and includes an excellent recruitment package that can be used to establish the investigator within the Reparative and Regenerative Medicine Center and the College of Medicine. Faculty appointment will be granted in the appropriate department. Rank and track are commensurate with the level of education and experience.

Qualifications include a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in one of several areas related to tissue engineering (Biomedical Engineering, Cellular or Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomaterials, other) and demonstrated leadership skills.
